Kona Grill, Inc. owns and operates 45 upscale casual restaurants in 22 states and one U.S. Territory; with two franchised restaurants in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Ontario, Canada. Our restaurants offer freshly prepared food, exceptional service and an upscale contemporary ambiance that provides an extraordinary, affordable dining experience.
Our restaurants feature a diverse selection of globally inspired starters and entrees as well as an extensive selection of award-winning sushi. Our menu items are prepared from scratch at each restaurant and incorporate over 40 signature sauces and dressings. The globally inspired menu is complemented by a full-service bar offering a broad assortment of wines, handcrafted specialty cocktails, and beers. Innovative recipes, generous portions, and flexible price points provide guests with an excellent value and allow us to attract a diverse guest base.
Our restaurants seat an average of 295 guests and are comprised of multiple dining areas that incorporate modern design elements to create an upscale ambiance that reinforces our high standards of food and service. The main dining area, full-service bar, indoor/outdoor patio, and sushi bar provide a variety of dining options designed to attract new guests and encourage repeat visits from regular guests.
Kona Grill restaurants are located in high-activity areas such as retail centers, shopping malls, urban entertainment districts, and lifestyle centers that are situated near commercial office space and residential housing to attract guests throughout the day.
All Kona Grill restaurants are uniquely designed to reflect the local community, people, and the surrounding environment. We create a familiar atmosphere, comprised of multiple dining areas with modern design element and a comfortable, yet upscale setting that emphasizes our high standards. We locate our restaurants in high-activity areas such as retail centers, shopping malls, urban entertainment districts, and lifestyle centers that are situated near commercial office space and residential housing to attract guests throughout the day.
Each restaurant is uniquely and individually designed. Several factors are taken into consideration when developing the restaurant design; such as, who the local guest is that we are trying to attract, the type of center the restaurant is going into (i.e., lifestyle center, super-regional mall, free-standing building, etc.), and we also review the architecture and design of successful hospitality concepts within the market to ensure an effective design. As a result, we are creating a collection of restaurants that showcase our flexibility and commitment to exceeding our guests’ expectations. When developing each space, we pay special attention to creating multiple dining experience options within the restaurant such as indoor/outdoor bar space, a cozy patio that typically has the ability to be closed up during extreme weather, a full-service sushi bar and dining room options.
Many of our restaurants display custom designed fish tanks which have become a signature feature of Kona Grill. We add fireplaces inside the restaurants and fire tables or similar features on the patio to add to the ambiance and warm up the space. Typically, we design water features such as water walls, water curtains or bubble columns that are used both inside and outside the spaces when possible. We pay special attention to our lighting design, incorporating unique as well as custom fixtures and elements that create interest as well as ambiance. We use various types of tiles, fabrics, and wall coverings, giving us the ability to add texture and to create the feeling of individual spaces throughout. Within each location, we create an inviting atmosphere that provides great focal opportunities from every vantage point.
We utilize storefront opportunities by installing operable storefront systems that allow us to open up the restaurant to our patio and outdoor area whenever possible. We maximize the use of our patios by installing heaters, mist fans and roll down shades which enables us to use the area year round. Our sushi bars are strategically positioned in a central location to both the dining room and the bar so that guests on either side can enjoy the experience, adding to the overall energy of the restaurant. We take great care in the design and work to create comfortable, unique and energetic spaces that our guests will enjoy now and for years to come.

We are currently seeking groups or individuals to develop and operate our Kona Grill brand in selected domestic and international markets under the umbrella of the franchise business model.
Our future franchise partners must possess:
- Passion and experience in the restaurant, entertainment, hospitality, or retail industry
- Knowledge of labor, taxation, importation, and franchise laws in the local market or region
- Resources to secure relevant real estate
- An existing infrastructure to develop and support the operation of Kona Grill restaurants
- The financial means to develop a minimum of 3 restaurants in 4 years
